Le maskné : les conseils pour le prévenir et s’en débarrasser

The maskne: the advice to warn it and get rid of it

Maskne is a skin condition caused by wearing a mask or any other accessory around the mouth and nose, such as respirators. The friction of the mask or other accessory causes heat, humidity, and perspiration, which promotes the proliferation of bacteria and clogs pores. This phenomenon thus causes what is known as "acne mechanica": different forms of acne can result from wearing a mask, from moderate acne, characterized by the appearance of small redness, blackheads, and small pimples, to severe acne, known as "cystic acne."

How to prevent the appearance of maskne?

Prevention is better than cure: we're giving you tips to mitigate the risk of pimples appearing on your face due to wearing a mask. First, take off your mask as soon as possible: the less you wear it, the more you'll reduce the risk of bacteria proliferating on your face. Furthermore, by changing your mask regularly, you'll significantly reduce the risk of maskne: if it's a cloth mask, wash it every two to three days if necessary. Use only mild soaps and no fabric softener to reduce the risk of clogged pores.

You can opt for fabric masks made from natural, skin-friendly materials: a 100% cotton mask is the ideal.

How to get rid of maskne?

Once maskne sets in, it's harder to get rid of: but don't worry, there are treatments and creams that will help you combat acne that has developed after wearing a mask.

Cleanse your skin well morning and evening

As with classic acne, your skin will need to be repaired: the best thing to do is to cleanse your face morning and evening with suitable foams and creams. To cleanse your skin, choose anti-acne foams or gels, or use a gentle soap. After cleansing, it is best to apply a moisturizer Non-comedogenic: This cream will create a protective layer between your facial skin and the mask. Avoid overly oily creams that promote excessive sebum production, as well as products containing retinol. The cream should be applied at least 15 minutes before wearing the mask for greater effectiveness.

Exfoliate your skin of impurities

Here's a foolproof trick against acne pimples: exfoliate your skin. Using natural scrubs in the evening before bed or in the morning before applying your day cream, you can revitalize and effectively protect your skin against external aggressions. Our Resurgence scrub is enriched with bamboo, an ingredient used to relieve irritated and sensitized skin (particularly when wearing a mask) and in shea which nourishes and soothes sensitive skin. It will exfoliate your facial skin of all accumulated impurities, applying it once or twice a week.

Adopt a suitable skincare routine

By changing your usual skin routine to a more suitable routine against maskne, you should get results quickly. Remember to cleanse your skin after going out with the mask: cleanse it with gentle, natural products, and with nourishing and soothing creams. Avoid applying too many creams with active ingredients, as this will have a counterproductive effect. Focus on masks and scrubs to exfoliate your skin of impurities and nourish it deeply.

The secret to maskne is therefore good skin hygiene. : by choosing natural products without chemicals, you will help your skin to strengthen and be able to more easily fight against irritation caused by friction with the mask.
