How to lighten your hair naturally

Hair dyes are extremely chemical and harmful to the hair fiber. Over time, they can dull the hair and cause it to lose all its suppleness. Fortunately, there are natural alternatives to chemical dyes that are just as effective. Lighten your hair Naturally, it’s possible, and at low cost: you can take advantage of the natural lightening properties of chamomile, lemon juice, or even cinnamon to lighten your hair by one or several shades, without even damaging it. Here are a few 100% natural recipes to lighten hair and restore its shine without damaging it.
Lighten your hair with chamomile flower
Did you know that chamomile is full of brightening benefits for the hair? You can make an infusion using chamomile flowers, which you can apply after shampooing.
For a chamomile infusion, pour boiling water over the flowers, then leave to steep for about ten minutes. For greater convenience, we recommend straining the mixture afterwards so that only the liquid infusion remains. You can then apply the infusion to your hair without rinsing it out. Finally, for the best results, expose your hair to the sun.
Lemon: the ultimate miracle ingredient
If you want to give your hair a “back from holiday” effect this summer, lemon will definitely be your best ally. Its citric acid content, a natural bleaching agent, will help lighten the hair. However, citric acid can dry out your hair: to prevent this risk, we recommend using a nourishing treatment before or after applying lemon to your hair: nourishing, natural treatments such as Nourishing Shampoo or Conditioner from Terre de Mars will be perfect.
To lighten your hair, simply mix the juice of 3 lemons with ¼ water in a bowl and spray the mixture onto your hair before leaving it in the sun (no more than 15 minutes). For a more natural effect, you can apply the mixture strand by strand, then wrap them in plastic film.
Warning: lemon is quite harsh, so use this mixture only once or twice a year at most. Lemon is still much less harsh than chemical dyes, however, and can be an excellent alternative if the mixture is applied sensibly.
A cinnamon-based mask
The cinnamon mask is an excellent solution for naturally lightening your hair. Mixed with other ingredients such as honey or argan oil, cinnamon helps nourish and lighten your hair at the same time. Before choosing cinnamon to lighten your hair, make sure you tolerate this ingredient well and that it does not irritate your scalp. To do this, you can apply a small amount to your scalp and wait to see the effects of cinnamon on your scalp: if it makes you itch or irritates you, do not try applying the mask to your hair.
- The cinnamon and water mask
Mix the cinnamon powder with mineral water until a paste forms. Then apply the paste to damp hair for at least 5 hours. You can leave the mask on overnight by wrapping your hair in a towel or using a shower cap for greater effectiveness.
- The cinnamon, honey, and argan oil mask
Mix one tablespoon of ground cinnamon with 4 tablespoons of honey and one tablespoon of argan oil. Then apply the mixture to damp hair: to distribute the mask evenly throughout your hair, you can use a comb. For maximum effectiveness, you can leave the mask on overnight.
- Cinnamon in your conditioner
You can mix one tablespoon of ground cinnamon with a dab of your conditioner. Then apply your conditioner mixed with cinnamon to your damp hair and leave it on overnight.
Lighten your hair Naturally, this proves to be a very attractive option for protecting your hair fiber, but also for saving money! In fact, lighten your hair using homemade masks will cost you less than a salon treatment, and you’ll see a clear difference in the texture of your hair: more beautiful and stronger hair than with chemical hair dye. Fortunately, natural and organic hair dyes are becoming increasingly popular, and some hairdressers may offer natural colouring services in their salons: for those who enjoy being pampered at the hair salon, this alternative is ideal!
