Natural materials are in! And what's better than dressing in a way that respects the environment and the environment? Raw materials have a significant impact on the environment. That's why in this article, we'll explain why it's time to favor natural materials for your wardrobe and share three of our favorites.
Why choose natural materials for your wardrobe?
As robust and comfortable as synthetic textile fibers, such as polyamides, made from petroleum, or polyester, natural materials will not only be pleasant to wear, but they will also contribute to the preservation of our environment by considerably reducing the production of greenhouse gases, of which fashion emits no less than 1.2 billion each year.
Natural materials like organic cotton, linen, and hemp are pleasant to the touch and are free from polluting chemical treatments like chlorine bleaching or heavy metal dyes. Whether for your shoes, bags, or clothing, eco-friendly materials are still in fashion.
1. Linen in your wardrobe
Linen is one of the natural materials the most popular: moreover, it is one of the most environmentally friendly materials. Linen cultivation does not produce waste, since every part of the plant will then be used. Linen is 100% biodegradable: your linen clothes can be composted when you no longer use them. Linen is also very strong and durable, which will allow you to keep your clothes longer without them getting damaged or getting holes. Finally, linen is extremely pleasant to wear: soft to the touch, you will quickly see that it has nothing to envy of synthetic materials.
2. Organic cotton in your wardrobe
Cotton is a favorite material for making our clothes: it's soft, warm, and comfortable to wear. But did you know that cotton is chemically modified? Cotton comes from the cotton plant, which is a shrubby plant with large flowers. This plant produces capsule-shaped fruits, which form seeds wrapped in cotton balls. It is from the seed that we obtain cotton fiber: unfortunately, cotton fiber very often undergoes chemical transformation processes such as chlorine bleaching or dyeing.
In contrast, organic cotton is first selected in an environment certified to be pesticide- and insecticide-free, GMO- and dye-free, and free of bleaching processes. Furthermore, it is produced using much less water than traditional, non-organic cotton. Thanks to its origin and the way organic cotton is produced, the impact on climate change is reduced by half: organic cotton is therefore an ideal alternative to your traditional cotton clothesOrganic cotton is not only good for our environment, but it is also good for our skin: your skin will finally be able to breathe thanks to a 100% natural material.
3. Hemp in your wardrobe
Hemp comes from the Cannabis Sativa plant, a member of the Cannabaceae family. The fibers found in the stem of this plant are used to make clothing, ropes, and thermal insulation. Hemp has many benefits and properties:
· Hemp is a thermoregulating material: it protects you from the cold and wicks away heat.By wearing hemp clothing, you will neither be too hot in summer nor too cold in winter.
· Hemp absorbs moisture: hemp clothing will dry quickly and the dye will last longer. It won't allow mold or mildew to grow, unlike the materials traditionally used in our clothing.
· Hemp is a durable material: the fabric can last for years without fraying or developing holes.
· Hemp has antibacterial properties: bacteria will not lodge in the fiber, which would drastically limit the risks of infection and bad odors.
Luxury brands have recently taken the initiative to design ranges of clothing made from natural materials, such as dresses or even hemp shoes. Linen is very commercialized: you will easily find linen clothing in major brands, which will make your task much easier.
